In real life there are few things that can never be laughed at.
Dreams;
Friendships;
Struggle;
Trust
Almost everything else, can be worked around. As a recent graduate student, I wonder why people try hard to change for an interview. I must have met brightest folks for 200 interviews till now. It was for interviews with Time, Turner, Disney, TBWAChiat, Starcom, Mindshare etc.etc. As you walk in the room, or look up the facebook profile, it's always the first impression that gets us excited about the next level of meeting. Just as recruiters are excited about your resume, you need to be excited about them. If something does not exist through whitepapers, publications, it's very difficult to feel excited about those names. Simple stuff about big names is that they are something because someone tweeted about them and made them big. As a not so humble person, we might think that we are entitled to this company because we are smart!
Just think and be kind, for everyone you meet is not focused about his resume. He or she might be fighting a hard battle. Real world is interesting. There are folks like Paul Levy, or people from Bedford Clinic who are changing world rather slowly. They are in no hurry to let work speak for them. They are looking at dreams, friendships, trust, and struggle.
