Duke Alum, entreprenurship and thinking Big

I must have spoken with so many alums to test the theory that Duke alum is quite influential.

Duke alums hold a lot of prestige in corporate america. Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan visits Fuqua to give back to the university in terms of his time, insights, and advice. Aaron Patzer, a young entreprenur who sold Mint.com to Intuit, inspired us to listen to engineers as they can create the next coding for businesses. A qualification is just a stepping stone to the dreams that we set for ourselves. I was speaking with an alum, who moved from Yahoo to a local publishing company in New York, in a senior adviser role. He still uses his MBA concepts at the new workplace. I tell myself that if I get tired of this rat race in the next ten years, and get laid off from my company, I will like to buyout a sick company, strip the assets, and sell it in the market place at a higher value- something that the company that I worked during my summer internship attempts to do for government entity.

The best part about media, and technology careers is that it allows one to be an entreprenur while earning a fixed salary. It also helps offer skills that can be used to make the next digital tool that would blow away a 15- 20 year old, college grad!
